What is an E-Book?

The 'E' in e-book stands for 'electronic'. So an e-book is an electronic book. This means that instead of holding printed pages in your hand and reading in bed, you are looking at electronic pages on your computer screen and reading at your desk.

There are many different types, formats and layouts of e-books. There are also many programs used to make and supply e-books. Here's the difference between how an e-book versus a printed book is made at AMI Bookshop:

PRINTED BOOK:

E-BOOK:

1. The text for a book is written or typed out on the computer.

4. The printed pages are bound together with glue and a cover is glued on.

4. The e-book is saved in a downloadable format, ready for someone to download it.

5. Once you've ordered the book, it gets shipped to you via postal mail.

6. When you get the book in your hands, you remove the shrink wrap and start reading.
